I started with Hifert (which was acquired by Impact in 2010) in 1996 at Port Adelaide, South Australia where I spent the next six years as an operator, after my early years career as a tradesman. In 2002 I was promoted to Production Co-ordinator and from there progressed my career by accepting secondments in Brisbane (State of Queensland) and Port Lincoln (regional South Australia), until 2006 when I returned to Port Adelaide as the Plant Manager overseeing two Hifert sites. Two years later I was appointed to the National role of Operations Manager.
In 2010, I left Hifert as a result of the acquisition by Impact Fertilisers, and spent five years working as a business development manager in electrical construction. The draw to return to the fertiliser industry was too much, and I was invited to become Operations Manager for Impact Fertilisers Port Adelaide and Kadina (regional South Australia) in 2015. In 2017 I was promoted to Southern Operations Manager for SA, then Regional Operations Manager leading five sites in South Australia and Victoria, and remain based in Port Adelaide today.
From the time I commenced with the Company, I have had many learning and development opportunities, worked secondments regionally and interstate, and travelled to conferences and meetings to connect with colleagues participating in cross functional activities, projects and spending time with the Executive Team to continuously learn about the business and our culture.
I know it is frequently said, but it is true that the people you work with are what sets your role apart from other roles. Over the years I have worked with many good people, and my time in fertiliser has given me many opportunities to work in various roles and relocate with my family to different locations which we have appreciated and enjoyed very much.
