ABOUT AMEROPA FOUNDATION

PURPOSE

Ameropa Foundation strives to give back and support social, educational, and agricultural projects around the world for low- and middle-income communities in need. We intend to do this work by focusing on three different project areas - Legacy, Sustainable Agriculture and Romania - which complement or align with the broader Ameropa family, team and communities. We work to leverage our philanthropic efforts by collaborating closely with communities and organizations, so that the Foundation can create a lasting impact and improve the lives of countless individuals around the world.

VALUES

Collaborative. We believe that meaningful work comes from a diverse group of people working together. We are successful when we have created a dynamic environment where there is collaboration across all levels and aspects of a project from community engagement to local project managers to long-term project partners to the Foundation team, which will best support long-term impact.

Entrepreneurial. As a business family we believe in fostering a culture where innovation, initiative, and a proactive mindset are celebrated and encouraged. Embracing our entrepreneurial spirit means empowering our team and our project partners to be catalysts for change, to bring creativity, and to constantly seek ways to improve and evolve our projects.

Equitable. We are committed to fairness, justice, and inclusivity in all aspects of our foundation. We work to build strong partnerships where everyone feels valued, respected and empowered to contribute their unique perspectives and talents to our engagements. We strive to create programs and initiatives where individuals, regardless of their background, identity, or circumstances, have access to opportunities, resources, and support to succeed.

Sustainable. We invest in initiatives with long-term partners so we can not only address immediate needs but also look at and design for sustainable solutions that will create lasting positive change in the communities we work with. We use learnings from our experiences to stay responsive to emerging challenges and opportunities, so we can adapt our strategies and approaches over time as a way to upholding our responsibility to the communities we work with, both now and in the future.

BRIEF HISTORY

Ameropa Foundation’s work in Brazil began in the 1980s, but the Foundation was not officially founded until 2001. For decades, the Foundation has been making a significant impact on communities in need; what began as a humanitarian initiative in Brazil on behalf of Ameropa AG evolved into a formal philanthropic organization. In December 2001, the Ameropa Foundation was established, providing a platform for Ameropa to expand its philanthropic endeavors, under the dedicated leadership of Nicole Miescher. The Foundation has initiated over 60 projects in 27 countries, positively impacting over 144’100 individuals. These projects have focused on social, educational, and agricultural development, supporting communities worldwide.

The Foundation’s approach to project implementation has always been one of collaboration and partnership. While the Foundation has overseen the structure and management of these projects, it actively involves local, long standing partners and even Ameropa employees, ensuring a deep understanding of the communities and their specific needs.

Over the years, the Ameropa Foundation has worked closely with several key communities, leaving a lasting mark on their development. One such community is Mãe Luiza in Brazil, where the Foundation’s involvement dates back to the 1980s. A significant milestone for this partnership was the inauguration of the Arena do Morro project in 2014, which has become a symbol of progress and hope for the community. Another vital collaboration has taken place in Kamwokya, Uganda, where the Foundation’s efforts began in 2011. The Kamwokya Community Centre, inaugurated in 2022, stands as a testament to the Foundation’s commitment to empowering local communities.

Nicole Miescher, served as the visionary leadership of Director from 2001 until the end of 2019. In 2014, Céline Miescher joined the Foundation, assuming the role of Director at the end of 2019. Over the last few years the Foundation has worked to refine its direction and align itself more closely with the broader Ameropa community as a way to maximize its impact and ensure sustainability. As the Ameropa Foundation enters this new phase of its journey, it does so with unwavering determination and a profound sense of purpose.
