Strong sales growth at Ameropa
Binningen (BL) – The Binningen, Switzerland, based production and trading company Ameropa reports sales of CHF 6.653 bn for 2018, up 19% (2017: CHF 5.583 bn). The growth was entirely organic due to volume increases both in production and trading. The efforts made over the last years to improve Ameropa’s market position and to increase the value chain have proven successful and have resulted in a higher operating result. In particular, fertilizer production grew from 1.5 million tons to 1.8 million tons year-on-year thanks to the investments made. Handling at the new grain terminal in Constanta increased by 5% to 4.8 million tons.
After completing the large investment program 2014-2017, Ameropa will focus more on projects of innovation, digitization and sustainability in agriculture. Among others, early this year a partnership has been agreed with the Lausanne-based start-up Gamaya which focuses on applications of ‘spectral imaging’ in agriculture. In addition, Ameropa has set up a working group with similar European companies to develop a European Food and Feed Sourcing Standard.
