In January 2009 Ameropa Foundation partnered with a Micro-Credit-Institute, FINEM, to open business in Kampala. Since the beginning more than 6’214 loans have been approved and distributed. A total of more than 12’522 direct and indirect beneficiaries were likely reached by the end of 2022.

In 2014, a line of credit for small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) was added and has offered micro-credits and loans to more than 2’180 SMEs. In the long term, we believe that these SMEs will become formal and will therefore create more jobs. By formalising the businesses, employees will be insured and taxes will be covered, which will contribute to greater stability of society.

As of 2018, Finem reached break-even before tax and depreciation and is now self-sufficient.
